When you embrace
self-compassion, you
uncover your strengths

Psychotherapy specializing in eating disorders, body image, disordered eating, excessive exercise, athletes, sports performance and trauma,

My passion is to empower you to appreciate your humanity so you can move forward by living a more joyful life.

Everyone comes to therapy for a different reason, with a different lived experience. I’m here to honor that and support you on your healing journey.

For you, perhaps that means:

  • Healing your relationship with food so you can support your body’s needs

  • Identifying and recovering from challenges related to trauma

  • Liberating yourself from diet culture or long-standing beliefs about your body

  • Nurturing your sense of self worth or improving body acceptance

The goal of therapy is to collaboratively assemble a toolbox of strategies that help you now and long into the future.

What to expect

Therapy is a journey. I’m here to guide you along the way.

During sessions, you'll learn about yourself through a trusting and safe relationship with another human being who is a trained expert in the areas where you struggle.

You’ll learn that your body is good as it is, that freedom comes from acceptance of your body and your experiences. You’ll learn that your beliefs about yourself are just that—beliefs, not facts.

As your therapist, I will implement evidence-based strategies to help you work towards your goals. If you have trauma, I’ll help you identify and navigate those challenges by assembling a toolbox that will support you on your journey.

We’ll go at a pace that supports progress but still feels safe and nurturing. I always want you feel comfortable, heard, and deeply understood.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Individual sessions are $325 with Stephanie Roth-Goldberg. Family sessions are $350. Sliding scale spots are also available on a limited basis. Please call or email us to discuss.

  • IPNYC is an out-of-network provider. Many insurance plans reimburse 40-100% of the cost after you have met your deductible. It is recommended that you call your insurance directly and ask for your out-of-network Mental Health Benefits. I will provide you with all the necessary paperwork to submit for reimbursement.

  • Do I have out-of-network Mental Health Benefits? Specifically CPT code 90834. If yes, what percentage do you cover? What is my deductible?

  • Psychotherapy is a collaborative treatment between you and a licensed psychotherapist. I apply scientifically validated techniques to help you understand your feelings and equip you with ways to face challenges in the present and future. Sessions are rooted in dialogue that provides a supportive environment that empowers you to talk openly with someone who is objective, non-judgmental, and an expert in the issues you may be battling.

  • Yes! While these are a few of my specialities, I wholeheartedly welcome you to reach out if you struggle with something else. I also have extensive training in treating depression, anxiety, and life transitions in adults and adolescents.

  • Yes. While exercise is not therapy (that’s what we’re here for), it can be extremely therapeutic. I’ll help you develop a practice that empowers you to move mindfully in a way that feels good without putting the focus on the size of your body.

  • This is an approach to eating where all foods fit without shame or guilt. There are no “good” or “bad” foods. The goal is freedom and flexibility instead of a particular way of eating or being. It also takes into consideration cultural differences in terms of the way people eat.

  • I work with adolescents aged 14 and up.

  • Intuitive Eating is a ten step approach to rejecting the diet mentality through connection with your body. It’s about healing your relationship with food so you can become more attuned to your body’s needs instead of dictating your food choices through dieting and preconceived notions.

  • The first official principles were based on shared understandings of the original steering committee of the Associate for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH), an international non-profit committed to size inclusivity in health. Today, the approach is a continuously evolving alternative to the weight-centered approach to treating clients and patients of all sizes.

I invite you to read more about ASDAH’s HAES principles at asdah.org.
